Introduction about yourself in interview or resume
I wrote introduction about yourself in conversation in Japanese language before.
Typical phrases – Introduction and “How are you?” with native Japanese voice
Today I got request for introduction about yourself in interview or resume with example.
Compared with introduction in conversation, introduction in interview and resume is longer should include your thought, experience and what you want to do in future. When you apply for job, studying abroad, you are supposed to have opportunity to introduce yourself.
I pick up 9 points for your introduction with 2 cases for job interview for caregiver and mechanist.
①Name
Just mention you name. That’s all.
This should be first.
②Where are you from
You may mention your nationality and which city you are from.
③Hobby
You may answer your hobby. If you don’t have hobby, you can mention what you do in weekend. You may add why you like that hobby.
④What you like to do
It seems to be similar with your hobby but this is more general question related with your value and your way of thinking. For example, in case you are applying for caregiver and taking interview, you may answer “I like to assist person and see their smile face” to this question. Then if you can add episode, it will be much better. For example, “the reason I like to assist person is when I was in hospital because of sick, I received many helps and kind care from doctor and nurses. Then I realized I want to be person who can give help to others.” Like that!
You should not say lie but select nice answer to attract interviewers with good episode. I sometimes hear “you should not make story from zero to one but you can add story from one to ten” when preparing interview or resume.
⑤What you dislike to do
This is more general question related with your value and your way of thinking same as No.④. Just answer to your mind. But it’s better to avoid answers related with racism, criticizing to others.
⑥Your strong point/Your week point
This question is often asked in interview and resume.
Interviewers want to know who you are and how you analyze yourself.
I recommend to take time to answer to this question beforehand.
⑦Current job/experience
Interviewer is interested in your current job and experience.
They imagine what will you bring to them from your job experience and judge whether you are suitable for its position.
⑧What you studied at school
If you do not have work experience, you may be asked this question.
Just answer what you studied at school but you should select your answer to suitable for the position. For example, if you want to work in Japan to learn machine technique, it’s better to answer you have learned machine technique at school and then you want to master more advanced machine technique at advanced company. Like this!
⑨What you want to do in future
They are asking your vision and your goal in future. They want to know your value and imagine you can work with them for long term. Usually interviewer wants person who can keep long relation.
Other than above 9 points, important points are to be honest with you (no lie!) and to prepare for interview/resume and think more about yourself.
